  • It is we know that India is famous for its pilgrimage sites worldwide. Although there is a lot of pilgrimage in India, but there are some pilgrimages sites that are quite popular. Such as 51 Shakti Peeth, 12 Jyotirlinga, 4 Dham, 7 Sapta Puri. 12 Jyotirlinga of Lord Shiva, which is in India only. According to Hindu mythology, Lord Shiva himself appeared here in his real form.   

  1. Somnath Jyotirlinga: – It is located in Gujarat of India.
  2.  Mallikarjuna Jyotirlinga: – This Jyotirlinga is located in the city of Srisailam in Andhra Pradesh near  Krishna River.
  3.  Mahakaleshwar Jyotirlinga: – It is located in Ujjain of Madhya Pradesh. Here Lord Shiva  had annihilated the demons.
  4. Omkareshwar Jyotirlinga: – Lord Shiva became very happy by the penance of King Mandhata and appeared to him to give a boon (vardan) and similarly the fourth Jyotirlinga was established here. This Jyotirlinga is near the Narmada River in  Madhya Pradesh.
  5. Nageshwar Jyotirlinga: – This Jyotirlinga is located in Dwarka of Gujarat.
  6. Baidyanath Jyotirlinga: – It is located in the tribal Deoghar area of Jharkhand.
  7. Bhimashankar Jyotirlinga: – This Jyotirlinga is situated on the banks of River Bhima in Maharashtra.  
  8. Trimbakeshwar Jyotirlinga: – This Jyotirlinga is situated near the Godavari River in Trimbak  town of Nashik, Maharashtra. 
  9. Grishneshwar Jyotirlinga: – This Jyotirlinga is located in Aurangabad of Maharashtra near  Ellora Cave.  
  10. Kedarnath Jyotirlinga: – This Jyotirlinga is located in the Himalayas of Uttarakhand.
  11. Vishwanath Jyotirlinga: – This Jyotirlinga is located in the oldest city of India, Banaras of Uttar Pradesh. 
  12. Rameshwaram Jyotirlinga: – This Jyotirlinga is located in Ramnathpur, Tamil Nadu. The special thing about this Jyotirlinga is that it was established by Shri Ram himself.  

  • Now Take Some information About Sapta Puri.  
  • These seven cities are considered very sacred in Sanatana Dharma. That is why these cities are called Sapta Puri. The names of these seven cities are: – 
  1. Ayodhya (Rama)
  2. Mathura (Krishna)
  3. Haridwar (Vishnu)
  4. Varanasi (Shiva)
  5. Kanchipuram (Parvati)
  6. Ujjain (Shiva)
  7. Dwarka (Krishna)

 
  • Shakti Peethas of Mata (Mother) Sati: – There are 51 Shakti Peeth in India. Shakti Peeth is those temples in India where Mata Sati body parts and ornaments fell on. The highest number of Shakti Peethas in India is in Bengal.
  • Four Dhams Built In India: – Four Dhams of India have been established in these 4 directions, North, South, East, and West. A person should go to these four Dhams and know about India’s culture. With the same purpose, Adi Shankaracharya had established these four Dhams.

 

  1. Badrinath Dham: – This Dham is situated in the north direction Himalayas near the Alaknanda River. The Chaturbhuja idol of Lord Vishnu is established here.
  2. Dwarka Dham: – This Dham is located in the west direction near Jamnagar of Gujarat. The idol of Lord Shri Krishna is established here.
  3. Rameshwaram Dham: – This Dham is situated in the southern direction in the sea near the Rameshwaram district of Tamil Nadu. Shivling of Lord Shiva is established here.
  4. Jagannath Puri: – This Dham is situated in the eastern direction in the Puri state of Odisha The idol of Lord Vishnu’s Nila Madhava is called Jagannath. The idols of Subhadra and  Balabhadra are kept with them.
